Some background.

2010 has not been an auspicious year for us. My father died in August, a very close friend in September and two colleagues from work died in the final days of December; one 42 and one 48. A fragile gossamer holds us all on this Earth.
The prolonged cold spell in December froze the roofspace in my father's house causing ceilings to collapse when temperatures rose. All the carpets were ruined, so considerable work is being done to the house as we type so restore it to a usable and marketable condition. My wonderful family has rallied round to aid the restoration.

Hello everyone.

The reason we have created this blog is because we are taking a long holiday and plan to drive around Europe in our 1955 Land Rover. We plan to post our pictures and reflections of the tour on this blog so family and friends (and anyone else who might be interested) can chart our progress as we meander around.
There are no specific plans or destinations or even routes, except arriving in Rome on 20/06/2011 for Jane's birthday.
