eft Hotel Clodio at 8.00 to drive to the apartment and negotiated the roads well. Awaited awhile for Giusy the landlady to arrive who was delayed by a faulty scooter lock. We quickly moved the luggage into the apartment because, like everyone else, we were double parked in a disabled bay. Giusy (Juicy in English!) then took us, thankfully, to the underground car park to store the car.
Giusy is a lawyer and the flat we are renting is her son's, who is studying at Stockholm for a Master's degree.
Tedious bit now about doing the shopping; the shops that have expensive clothes, furniture and luxury goods are all at ground level whilst the "ordinary" run-of-the-mill shops, like supermarkets, barbers etc are below ground and difficult to locate when you're newly arrived.
Made dinner and waited for the family to arrive from Blighty - 1 hour late. Wonderful to see them all. Finished off the day with a walk to the Vatican City to familiarise the guests with Roman life.
